A Grateful Heart: How Do You Start Your Day?

June 15, 2018 Posted by admin Uncategorized

Time is one of our most precious resources. Each day, each moment in each day, is a gift from God for you to use according to His purpose. You should steward it wisely, like any other gift from God.

You should not feel guilty about carving out some time to be alone with Him. Quiet time basking in the peace of God allows you the presence of mind to get through each day. Fiercely protect the first few minutes of your day after waking up in order to spend cherished quiet time listening for what God will lay on your heart.

Ask yourself, “Who is in charge of my life?” If the answer is God, then you have no reason to feel guilty about spending time with Him.

Worshiping God isn’t just something that happens on Sunday morning at church. It’s something that can happen in your heart at any time, especially at the start of your day. The day is before you with possibilities, tasks, challenges, and trials. You don’t know everything that will happen over the course of the day. Spending some quiet time with God before the hustle and bustle will help you arm yourself.

Bring to God your plans and trust in Him enough to allow Him to guide you throughout the day. Resist the temptation to blindly go through the motions and habits of the day. Be open to the moments and opportunities He will bring you.

Spending time in the presence of God each morning will remind you to rejoice in the abundance of God and His limitless love. There is never a need to worry about having “enough” because God provides fully for you. In the words of Dee Ann Turner, “Where God guides, He provides.” Even as you worry about being in control of your day, His desire is for you to trust in Him.

God isn’t limited by time as we know it. We must learn to trust in him each and every moment of the day. The best way to remember to trust in Him each moment is to intentionally dedicate our time to Him.

Enjoy spending time in the presence of God and experiencing the love, joy, and peace, that comes with that experience. Sit quietly with God, resting in Him.

Adonai,

Thank You for each and every moment You give. Help me walk more mindfully through today, aware of Your presence in my life. I dedicate the first thoughts of my day to You, and I am equipped by Your strength.

I will yield my spirit to You completely. Use me as for Your purposes. I pray I will remain focused on You today.

Amen.

“Silent gratitude isn’t very much good to anyone.” ~ Gertrude Stein

Reflection & Journaling

What is your normal routine in the first few minutes of your morning? What intentions are you setting in the first minutes of your day?

What would you like to do differently in your morning routine? How could you be more intentional about spending that time with God?
